Now there's a safer route avoiding the dangerous A258
You say:
Paul Barlow says: "Personally I'd like to see pressure put on D.D.C / K.C.C to get the A258 improved with a separate safe cycle and walkers path. North out of Deal is well served with safe walking/cycle routes . . . South out of Deal certainly isn't !"
Mark Burton says: "A very good route but don't under estimate the blind bends and narrow lanes and fast traffic. Obviously, a much better option than the Dover/Deal road but stay safe, be seen and expect the unexpected speeding car or van."

Previous Forum meeting:
On 24th October, we discussed 'Making cycling safer in Dover District'
The Forum meets FOUR times a year - this was the FOURTH and final meeting before the AGM. The recent tragic death of a cyclist at Ringwould added urgency to this meeting's topic, highlighting the issue of cycling safety in our District and what progress has been made on the Dover District Strategy 2008 and the development of safer cycling routes.
There was a report on the Spokes meeting with Kent Police Commissioner, Ann Barnes;
on what the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) can do to help people access the countryside on bikes;
and Colin Finch (KCC PROW) presented the new Dover/Deal/Sandwich Town Walking/Cycling Map.
Thank you for supporting our proposals
for a safer alternative to the A258
